Making Disciples

Dennis McCallum
2 Timothy 2:1-2

Making disciples is about making community where good relationships are formed, people know the Word and people are meeting the needs of others. It is where each person is growing in all respects into Him who is the head, that is Jesus Christ. It is sharing truth in the context of a close personal relationship where you model, help, teach and mentor a younger believer.\r\n

Six Ways to Serve Under Adverse Circumstances

Conrad Hilario
1 Timothy 4:1-16

God is calling you to a life filled with true meaning and purpose. It is not a mistake that God has put you where you are. If God calls you to serve in challenging circumstances, focus on the things you do have control over. Don't be surprised when some people abandon the faith. Keep the central message at the center of what you do. Lead by example. Stand on the authority and power of God's written Word. Remember that God has called, equipped, and commissioned you to carry out your task. People should not only observe what we are, but also what we are becoming.

Paul and Pressing On to the End

Patrice McCormac
2 Timothy 4:9-22

In Paul's last imprisonment, just before he was to be executed, he asks Timothy to bring his books when he comes. In his last days Paul continued to have a spiritual mindset. He asked for help from a godly friend. He kept serving even in prison by ministering to the believers not in prison with him. He stayed in the Word. He entrusted himself to the Lord and he kept in close contact with Him.

Embracing a Lifestyle of Love:Toward Other Christians

Gary DeLashmutt
Colossians 3:12-16

Spiritual maturity is facilitated by receiving and focusing on God's love toward God, toward other Christians and toward non-Christians. This week we examine loving other Christians. God calls us to a love that forges observable unity, a love that humbly serves those who are messy and sinful, and a love that is fueled and informed by God's Word.

Parenting Rooted in the Word

Laura Stoddard
Colossians 3:12-16

As parents, when we are rooted in the Word, we can rest in the goodness of God, our new identity as his beloved child, and we have confidence in the direction God will give us. When we are rooted in in Him, we know have a loving God who will never leave us or forsake us, he communicates to us through the bible, and we know our needs will be met and we can grow. As we wrestle through these truths, we model for our children how to learn them as well.

Six Ways to Lead a Tough Church

James Rochford
1 Timothy 4:1-16

Paul gives Timothy six ways to lead a tough church undergoing attack by false teachers who promote doctrines of demons. Timothy is directed: to stay well-fed by the Word, to work hard, to become what he wants to see, to lead with his Bible, to exploit the spiritual gift in him, and to trust that God will use him. God is not a harsh task-master. He will work on one area needing improvement at a time. What is one area you need to grow in?

Organic Leadership in Action

Dennis McCallum
1 Timothy 4:12-16

Organic leadership in the church is optional in the sense once saved, one is not required to grow or you lose your salvation but it is for your own good and for the good of others. The Christian leader should understand leadership is modeling in such a way that others want to follow your example. Christian leadership is solidly based in the Word of God. It is authentic and dynamic.

Setting the Right Example

Chris Hearty
1 Timothy 4:12-16

Paul exhorts Timothy to be an example to the church he was leading in his speech, conduct, love, faithfulness and purity. His congregation would have a hard time looking down on him if they need to look up to his example. By conscientiously striving under grace to set an example, Timothy would cause both himself and his hearers to grow and prosper spiritually. What about your life is worth imitating by others?

What Is the Purpose of the Old Testament Law?

Conrad Hilario
1 Timothy 1:6-16

It is a common misunderstanding of the Old Testament Law to believe it was a set of rules to live by in order to have the right to enter heaven upon one's death. The truth is it defines what is morally right and wrong for the purpose of demonstrating no one is moral or right enough to enter heaven based on their keeping the Law. God gave us the Law to lead us to Christ so that we could have the opportunity to receive His unmerited acceptance.
