The God Who Dwells with His People

True Repentance

The Greek word for repentance means to change your mind. True biblical repentance means changing your mind about what you did. First, go to God and acknowledge your sin. Focus on His kindness. You need God's resources to change. You will receive healing, and release from regret.

Judas and Peter: Remorse vs. Repentance

Near the end of Jesus' time on earth, we see 2 disciples--Peter and Judas--experience major failure denying Jesus and betraying him. While their failure was similar, each responded differently. Judas responded with regret, leading to him trying to fix his mistake and ultimately the guilt leading him to suicide. Instead, Peter repented, agreeing that he was wrong, and looking to Jesus to restore him and strengthen him to live in victory. We should also be careful to respond to failure in repentance and allow God to restore us, rather than just feeling regret and defeat.

Jesus and the Samaritan Woman

Jesus' interaction with the Samaritan woman at the well demonstrates we we designed to live in relationship with God and when we are not in right relationship with Him, we experience thirst. Only a relationship with God our Creator can quench that thirst. Jesus is offering to reconnect us to God if we ask for that living water.

What Jesus Accomplished through His Death on the Cross-Pt1

Early in Christianity, false teachers rose up to say Jesus's death on the cross was not spiritually significant. But the Bible is emphatic that Jesus' death on the cross was a very significant. It accomplished what no man could do. It demonstrated why we need forgiveness. It displayed how God provided forgiveness. And it showed the amazing extent of God's forgiveness.
